It took years for my mother to admit she had a chemical dependence. Her addiction caused much pain and sorrow in our family and childhood was not very pleasant for me. As I got older and figured out that my mother was actually suffering from a chemical dependence I decided to find help for her. My sons father suffers from substatnce dependency and I don't want my son around him until he gets help through an opiate addiction treatment center.
